America East Tournament Preview
The Ohio State Buckeyes have shutout the Toledo Rockets in both prior meetings

Toledo has dropped both of its previous meetings with the Ohio State Buckeyes and has not scored a single point in those games.  The first meeting was back in 1998, as the Rockets were handed a 49-0 defeat by the No. 1 Buckeyes at the time.  It’s still important to note that the program has tallied a 6-14 mark versus Big Ten opponents, including a 31-20 win over Purdue in West Lafayette last year.  Bettors will also need to be aware that the team is 6-8 all-time versus ranked teams, but just 1-7 when playing such opponents on the road.  Toledo is 6-6 ATS on the road.

The Rockets put their two quarterback system on display in their resounding 58-22 win over New Hampshire as 10.5-point home favorites.  Toledo also let running back Adonis Thomas loose in the opener, rushing for 115 yards on nine carries.  He finished last year as the MAC’s No. 2 rusher with 1,098 yards, while leading all conference members with a 6.3 yards per carry average.  Saturday presents an uphill battle, but the program is headed in the right direction under current head coach Tim Beckman, who is 14-12 entering the second game of his third year on campus.

Ohio State tallied a 42-0 shutout win as 31.5-point home favorites last week and finished with 427 more total yards than the Akron Zips.  The Buckeyes defense was truly dominant in allowing just 90 yards of total offense made 10 tackles for loss.  The team will likely come out of this week with a 2-0 record, considering its won 55 consecutive regular-season non-conference home games against unranked opponents.  It’s an impressive statistic to go along with a 53-5 mark at Ohio Stadium since the start of the 2002 season.  Ohio State is 4-0 ATS versus MAC foes.

The Buckeyes were led last week by the strong quarterback play of Joe Bauserman, who completed 12 of 16 passes for 163 yards, while also rushing for a 15-yard score to compliment his three touchdown throws.  He played the first half of the opener and then watched backup Braxton Miller step in, as the two combined for 355 yards of total offense.  As mentioned earlier, the defense was magnificent last Saturday, which is expected from a school that has been in the Top 20 in points allowed the last nine seasons.

Bettors will likely back the Buckeyes due to their 8-0 ATS mark in September, while the Rockets are 1-5 ATS as an underdog of 10.5 or more points.
