North Carolina will try to win its 10th game in a row Wednesday night, as it comes off a 105-72 blowout victory over the Wake Forest Demon Deacons as 14-point home favorites last time out. The Tar Heels averaged 56.3 points in the first three ACC games this year, but have averaged 78.9 in their last 11, which is important to consider when making your college basketball predictions. The program has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in the second half in eight of its last 10 contests. North Carolina is 6-2 SU and 5-3 ATS as road favorites of 3.5 to 6 points the last two-plus seasons.
The Tar Heels have compiled a 56-31 SU record on the road in ACC play under longtime head coach Roy Williams, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball odds page. North Carolina is 149-76 SU all-time in this series, including a dominating 21-2 mark under Williams. Sophomore point guard Marcus Paige has made 63 of the team’s 110 three-point field goals during the 2013-14 campaign.
NC State returns home after dropping two of three road games, but it did manage to come away with a 71-64 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies as 2.5-point road favorites last Saturday. The Wolfpack have two players averaging in double figures, with sophomore forward T.J. Warren leading the way at 23.3 points a contest. He’s the leading scorer in all of the Power 5 conferences—having six games of finishing with 30-plus points. NC State is 7-6 ATS at home this season, with the UNDER going 8-5 in that situation.
The Wolfpack have one of the better floor generals in the conference in Tyler Lewis, who is on pace to set the school record for assist-to-turnover ratio. NC State has a +3.0 turnover margin when Lewis starts at point guard and -0.1 when he comes off the bench. Both of these teams rely on scoring inside the arc, with Warren leading the nation in made field goals per game.
Sports bettors will likely back the Tar Heels due to the favorite being 12-2 ATS in the last 14 meetings in this series.
