West Virginia has alternated wins and losses over its last four games, as it comes off a 65-64 setback to the Kansas State Wildcats as one-point home underdogs Saturday, while going OVER the total for the first time in three contests. The Mountaineers have posted 23 conference road victories over the last five-plus seasons, while winning 90 of their last 112 games against unranked opponents. The team is 12-9 ATS in January since 2010, which can’t be ignored when looking over the college basketball odds page.
The Mountaineers don’t have a probable starter averaging in double figures, with freshman guard Terry Henderson leading the way, scoring 8.5 points per game. West Virginia will be meeting Iowa State for the first time in school history, but head coach Bob Huggins is 4-1 against the program from Ames.
Iowa State owns an eight-game Big 12 homecourt winning streak, which is tied for the fourth-best such mark in school history, as it picked up an 82-62 victory over the Texas Longhorns as 8.5-point favorites Saturday. The Cyclones are one of the nation’s highest scoring teams, leading the conference and ranking sixth nationally in averaging 82.5 points per game. The program is the only one in the country to score at least 70 points in every game. Iowa State is 18-13 ATS as a favorite over the last two-plus seasons, with the UNDER going 13-11 in that situation.
The Cyclones are averaging 9.5 3-point makes per game this season, while connecting on 10 or more from beyond the arc eight times this season. Iowa State is 10-0 on the year when outshooting its opponent and reaching 40 points first. Reserve guard Tyrus McGee is the player to watch on the perimeter, leading the Big 12 in both 3-pointers per game and 3-point percentage, as he averages 13.3 points per game. The school will look to push its win streak to 17 games at Hilton Coliseum.
Sports bettors will likely back the Cyclones due to their 8-3 ATS mark at home where the total is 140 to 144.5, while the Mountaineers are 10-11 ATS as underdogs.
