BYU has opened the season with three wins, including a 101-48 blowout victory over Southern Virginia last Wednesday, as it prepares to step up its level of competition in participating in the 2014 EA Sports Maui Invitational.  The Cougars have two starters averaging double figures in scoring, which can’t be ignored when making your college basketball picks, with Preseason AP All-American honorable mention Tyler Haws leading the way at 17.3 points a contest.  BYU is 19-41 ATS in its last 60 neutral-site games.

The Cougars have participated in this event two previous times, which is important to consider when looking over the college basketball lines, as they’ve put together a combined 3-3 mark.  BYU has some firepower on the bench, with senior guard Anson Winder being the main player to watch, as the Bishop Gorman High School product has averaged 10.3 points and 3.7 rebounds.  Haws will likely score 10 or more points in this matchup, as he’s accomplished that feat in 51 consecutive games.

San Diego State is looking to improve to 4-0 for just the fourth time under head coach Steve Fisher, who recently signed a three-year contract extension with the program.  The Aztecs have won their last two meetings with the Cougars when playing on a neutral floor, as they look to continue their impressive play on the defensive end.  The squad enters the tournament ranked fifth in the country in surrendering just 44.7 points per game, as it has held foes to 17.6 percent shooting from beyond the arc.  San Diego State is 12-5-2 ATS in its last 19 games versus West Coast Conference opponents.

The Aztecs have won their last seven games versus schools hailing from the state of Utah, which includes a 53-49 home victory over the Utes last week.  San Diego State has pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in each of its first three games, while it has made more free throws than its opponent has taken in every contest.

Sports bettors will likely back the Aztecs due to their 7-2 ATS mark in their last nine games on a neutral floor.
