Florida International is just 1-6 on the season and will host one of the better teams in its conference in the 5-2 (3-1 C-USA) East Carolina Pirates. The Golden Panthers have struggled to generate much offense this season, managing just 219.1 yards per game and 11.1 points per contest. In addition to not really scoring, the defense is allowing 37.1 points per game, as well.
Florida International gave up 72 to Louisville, and while East Carolina might not matchup to Louisville, Shane Carden is one of the best quarterbacks no one is talking about. Carden has thrown for 2,325 yards on the season with an outstanding 74.5 percent completion ratio and he has 16 touchdowns to just five picks on the year.
It’s good for a 152.3 QB rating, and Carden has a decent option in the backfield in Vintivious Cooper too. Cooper has rushed for 513 yards on 117 carries and has five TDs on the year. East Carolina is a dangerous offensive squad and averages 37.1 points per game. The defense is strong enough, allowing 23.4 points per game, and East Carolina has to be setting its sights on a C-USA championship possibly.
East Carolina has the 12th best pass offense in the nation behind Carden’s arm, and the team was strong enough to defeat an ACC school like UNC 55-31 on Sept 28. The matchup against NC State on Nov 23 will be crucial for the Pirates.
East Carolina Trends: OVER 5-0 in last 5 after allowing less than 275 total yards previous week; 0-5 ATS after scoring more than 40 points in previous week; 1-6 ATS in last 7 after accumulating more than 280 yards in previous game.
Florida International Trends: 0-5 ATS in last 5 home games vs teams with winning road records; 0-7 ATS vs teams with winning road records; 1-7 ATS in last 8 at home.
