The Cavs season was over quite a while ago, but the Bulls are looking to tune up for the playoffs. Derrick Rose is back in full swing again and ready to try to sweep whichever team he faces in the first round, be it the Jeremy Lin-less Knicks or the defensively minded Philadelphia 76ers.
Luol Deng has solidified himself as a premier small forward now after making his first All-Star team. Carlos Boozer is still a consistent 20-10 threat, and offers a rugged bit of play around the basket, while his backup Taj Gibson brings even more intensity and energy, solidifying a strong Bulls frontline as they are joined by defensive demon Joakim Noah and the hardworking Turkish center Omer Asik. The Bulls have the size to match up with the biggest teams, and will have no problem with the interior presence of Amar’e Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler, nor that of Elton Brand and Spencer Hawes.
The Cavs are going to be looking ahead now to the draft lottery. Landing Anthony Davis and creating an interior rotation of Anderson Varejao, rookie Tristan Thompson, and Davis would give the Cavs a dangerous presence around the hoop. Varejao is a very underrated basketball player with a high defensive IQ. Thompson is developing quickly and has a great NBA body. And Davis very well may be a franchise cornerstone type of talent. Things are bright in Cleveland, and LeBron James’ absence is beginning to fade in the minds and hearts of Cavs fans.
