Buffalo snapped a three-game losing streak by picking up a 19-14 victory over the Miami Dolphins as one-point home favorites, while winning the statistical battle for a second consecutive week. “If we can win these ballgames coming down the stretch, that’s huge,” commented Bills defensive end Chris Kelsay. The Bills are seventh in the league in averaging just over 140 yards per game on the ground, which could make them a dangerous road underdog on the pro football odds page. Buffalo is 0-4 ATS versus AFC South opponents the last two-plus years.
The Bills need to run on first down in this conference affair, considering the Colts are allowing opponents to gain 4.7 yards per carry on that particular down. Buffalo running back C.J. Spiller figures to get plenty of touches, as he’s totaled 100-plus yards from scrimmage in five straight games. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick should come in with some confidence knowing he compiled a 120.8 passer rating in his last game against the Colts on Jan. 3, 2010.
Indianapolis is in position to gain one of the two AFC Wild Card spots, but it was humbled in a major way in dropping a 59-24 decision to the New England Patriots as 10-point road underdogs last week. “You realize it’s just one loss,” commented Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. He completed 27 of 50 passes for 334 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions. Luck’s 2,695 passing yards through 10 games are the most among rookie quarterbacks in league history. Indianapolis is 4-1 ATS at home this season, with the UNDER going 4-1 in those contests.
The Colts have won and covered the spread in four of their last five games, while winning the statistical battle in every contest in that span. Indianapolis has won six of the past seven games in this series, but suffered a 30-7 setback as nine-point road underdogs in the last meeting. Rookie wide receiver T.Y. Hilton is a player to watch in the passing game, as he’s totaled 100 receiving yards in two of his last three games.
Sports bettors will likely play the total, as the OVER is 10-1 in the Bills’ last 11 games on artificial turf.
