Broncos Rams NFL Preview
Denver QB Kyle Orton has put up huge numbers this season but that has not translated to wins

The St. Louis Rams (4-6) still have a legitimate shot of winning the NFC West this season, but odds are they will need a road win in a game like this against the Denver Broncos (3-7) on Sunday in order to accomplish that goal.  The Rams are still looking for their first road win of the season but have gone 3-1 against the spread away from home while the Broncos have dropped five of six both straight-up and ATS following a 35-14 loss at San Diego on Monday night.

St. Louis saw a four-game home winning streak snapped by Atlanta in a 34-17 loss last week and failed to cover the spread for just the second time in nine games.  Rookie quarterback Sam Bradford threw his first interception since Week 5 at Detroit, and he has five touchdown passes and three picks in four road games overall this season.

The Rams are all alone in second place in the NFC West, one game behind division-leading Seattle.  They won the first meeting with the Seahawks 20-3 in Week 4 and square off again in the regular-season finale.  San Francisco and Arizona are tied for third at 3-7.

Denver has put up some impressive offensive numbers this year with little to show for it.  Quarterback Kyle Orton ranks third in the NFL with 3,023 passing yards, but he has been sacked 26 times, including five by the Chargers.  That could pose a problem against a St. Louis defense that is sixth in the league with 28 sacks, led by James Hall (7.5) and Chris Long (5.5).

The Broncos have started to run the ball a little better lately thanks to a healthy Knowshon Moreno, who has scored four touchdowns in the last four games.  Moreno scored the first touchdown at San Diego but has carried the ball more than 14 times just once in five games since returning from a hamstring injury that sidelined him for three games.  A lot of that has to do with the fact that they have been playing from behind most of the time, requiring Orton to throw the ball more.  Three of Moreno’s four scores during that stretch have come on catches.

Denver could use a more balanced attack against the Rams and might be getting rookie quarterback Tim Tebow more involved in the offense soon.  Tebow has attempted just one pass this season, resulting in a 3-yard touchdown during a 49-29 rout of Kansas City in Week 10.
