For those of you who have followed me in the past on Maddux, I do extremely well in prop betting. I took off last season, but will be back at it again this year. It should be a great year of prop betting.
Bovada has set the prop bets for tonight’s action between the Boston Celtics and Miami Heat. We’ll kick off our season of prop betting with the talented Heat squad and the experienced C’s.
Paul Pierce o/u 18.5 pts
Staying away from this one. Pierce will likely put up 18 or 19.
Kevin Garnett o/u 15.5 pts
OVER. Kevin Garnett will be seeing more time back at power forward with the addition of Darko Mlicic, and regardless of whether he faces Joel Anthony or Chris Bosh, he’s going to have his way offensively. KG should put up at least 18 tonight.
Kevin Garnett o/u 8.5 rebs
OVER. Double-double for KG tonight.
Rajon Rondo o/u 15 pts
UNDER. Rajon Rondo is going to look to distribute heavily to his teammates, and though I don’t think he goes under by much, I expect 13-14 points tonight.
Rajon Rondo o/u 11.5 ast
OVER. What Rondo will not do scoring the ball he will do dishing it. He led the league in assists last season and is the favorite to do so again in assists futures betting.
LeBron James o/u 27.5 pts
Staying away. Jeff Green should be able to keep LeBron from going for 30, but there’s not a lot of value offered. James averages 30 per game over his career against the Celtics in 30 career games, so the “OVER” is tempting, but Green is a better defender than Pierce, so LBJ may not get his usual 30 against Boston tonight.
LeBron James o/u 8 rebs
UNDER. For his career against the C’s, James is averaging just 6.3 rebounds per game. He also averaged 7.9 last year, slightly under the line set, and that was his career high. James will get 6 or 7 boards tonight.
LeBron James o/u 6 ast
Staying away. Six sounds about right.
Dwyane Wade o/u 21.5 pts
UNDER. For his 27 career games against Boston, Wade is averaging 21.2 points in 38 minutes of play. He won’t see 38 minutes tonight. Last year, Wade saw only 33 minutes per game and now that he is on the brink of turning 31, he’s going to see less minutes still. I think Wade puts up 18 to 20 tonight.
Chris Bosh o/u 16.5 pts
OVER. Bosh has been historically good against the Celtics, and has averaged 18.8 points per game against them over his career. He averaged 18 a game last year and he also shot more in 2011-12 than he did in 2010-11. His usage rate isn’t nearly as high as it was in Toronto, but he’s still (theoretically) that same player, and Bosh has the talent to bring his average back up into the low 20s. He could start that tonight.
Chris Bosh o/u 8 reb
UNDER. Bosh averaged 7.9 rebounds per game last year and didn’t board particularly well in the playoffs, falling 8 rebounds or under in five of the eight games.
Ray Allen o/u 11.5 pts
Staying away from this one. I think Allen averages exactly 11.5 this season.
