Bovada.lv Series MVP and Other Series Prop Bets — Predictions — Heat vs. Thunder

Kevin Durant is the odds on favorite for the Finals MVP award
The Finals are here and Bovada.lv has released player prop bets for the series. It promises to be a very exciting one, highlighting a showdown between LeBron James and Kevin Durant. Likely, one of the stars will win the MVP of the series. But how will the rest of it play out? What can we expect for these interesting prop bets?

SERIES MVP

LeBron James (3/2)

Given that Durant has even odds, I do like the bet on James. The Thunder are also series favorites, but how can you not like a bet on James given how he played in the series last round against the Celtics? He has stepped it up and is playing the best basketball of his career. He seems to be getting it. Really, this award seems to be his to lose, to me.

Dwyane Wade (7/1)

Wade is a bit of a long shot, but that doesn’t mean 7/1 doesn’t offer good value. He has won a Finals MVP already in his career and is the Heat’s second best player. Wade could come out and have a big series, which would make this bet very reasonable.

Chris Bosh (18/1)

It’s hard to imagine the third fiddle winning the MVP, but sometimes we forget just how good Bosh was in Toronto. He’s capable of leading a team, just not the Heat.

Kevin Durant (1/1)

Durant is the odds on favorite to win the series MVP award, and if the Thunder win this series, as NBA oddsmakers have favored them to, it’s a near lock that Durant wins the MVP, unless….

Russell Westbrook (6/1)

With slightly better odds than Wade, Westbrook is the second fiddle that could win the award, because…well, because he shoots way too much. Given his high volume of shots, he could put up big numbers and take the MVP trophy home.

Will LeBron James record a triple double in the series?

Yes (+200), No (-300)

I’m not sure where I stand on this one, to be honest. The Heat obviously need James to do it all, and he can. Does that mean he’ll record a triple double? Maybe, maybe not. Vegas oddsmakers seem to think ‘no,’ but James has triple double potential every night.

Highest one game point total for LeBron James: 37.5 o/u

OVER. I think one of these games LeBron comes through with another 40+ point effort. Durant isn’t a lockdown defender, and James can get to the hole and get the Thunder bigs into foul trouble and get to the line.

Highest one game point total Dwyane Wade 31.5

Staying away from this. He’ll push the envelope the entire series, but is going to be covered by two very good defenders in Thabo Sefolosha and James Harden.

Highest one game point total Kevin Durant 36.5

OVER. Like James, Durant will likely have one monster game in this series.
