David Garrard and the Jaguars are 1 point road dogs to the winless Bills on Sunday

For the Buffalo Bills (0-4), hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars (2-2) on Sunday gives them their best opportunity for a victory over the next month.  The Bills (Pick’em) head into their bye week following this game and then visit Baltimore and Kansas City before playing Chicago in Toronto.  Meanwhile, the Jaguars are coming off their biggest win of the young season and hope to use one of their opponent’s former players to their advantage.

Buffalo has made some dramatic changes on offense over the last couple weeks, releasing former starting quarterback Trent Edwards after he was ineffective in the first two games.  Edwards then signed with Jacksonville as a free agent and will serve as the backup to David Garrard against his old team.  The Bills also traded starting running back Marshawn Lynch to Seattle on Tuesday, which will give more playing time to Fred Jackson and rookie C.J. Spiller.

Lynch was the team’s leading rusher with 164 yards on 37 carries but did not find the end zone.  Jackson has totaled 87 yards on 20 carries with a rushing touchdown while Spiller has 49 on 14 attempts but has scored on a reception and kickoff return.  Buffalo head coach Chan Gailey will now try to balance the running game between Jackson and Spiller to help take some pressure off quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, who has struggled a bit since taking over for Edwards.

Fitzpatrick threw two touchdown passes in a 38-14 home loss to the Jets last week but completed only 12 of 27 passes for 128 yards.  He will be facing a Jaguars defense that has surrendered 27.8 points per game and ranks third-worst in the NFL in defending the pass, giving up 303.8 yards per game through the air.

Jacksonville quarterback David Garrard also has a favorable matchup against the Bills, who are the only team in the league without an interception this season.  Buffalo is allowing an average of 208.8 passing yards and an NFL-worst 174 rushing yards per game.  That should not only help Garrard but also running back Maurice Jones-Drew, who is coming off his first 100-yard game of the year with 105 on 26 carries and a touchdown in a 31-28 upset of Indianapolis.

Jaguars kicker Josh Scobee kicked a 59-yard field goal to beat the Colts last week and could be a factor if this game is like recent meetings with the Bills.  Four of the last five meetings have been decided by four points or less with the UNDER cashing three times.
