Missouri is a 14.5 point favorite at home against Iowa St in Big 12 action. Both teams are desperate for a conference win as they are 0-2 in Big 12 play.

The 3-2 Iowa St Cyclones travel to the 2-3 Missouri Tigers in a key Big 12 game for the teams as they both are 0-2 in conference. However, the Cyclones have gone on a 2 game losing streak at home to Texas 37-14 and last week at Baylor 49-26. Both Baylor and Texas are ranked in the top 25. Grant Mahoney replaced him and was 2-4 on extra points and  didn’t attempt a field goal. He is 1-3 for the season on field goals with a 54 yard kick. Iowa St has 8 players out indefinitely or for the season.

Missouri was a 4 point favorite last week at Kansas St, but found themselves down 24-3 early in the fourth quarter. Missouri scored two late touchdowns to make the score closer than it was but still lost 24-17. Neither team moved the ball very well as Missouri only had 326 total yards, including 112 rushing yards. Missouri is giving up 336.8 yards a game including 104.4 rushing yards. Missouri is allowing 21 points a game.  The Tigers have forced 6 turnovers and 8 sacks this season. Tiger opponents are 26/74 on third and fourth down conversions, and 14/16 scoring in the red zone with 11 touchdowns. The Tigers are averaging just under 9 penalties for 71 yards a game.

Missouri is 3-2 against the spread this season and the total is also 3-2 in those games. Iowa St is 2-3 ATS this season and the total is 3-2 as well. Iowa St is 4-9 ATS versus teams with losing records, 2-5 ATS in the last 7 road games and overall, 3-9 ATS in the last 12 on turf, 1-4 following a straight up loss, 1-5 ATS in the last 6 October games, and 0-4 ATS in the last 4 conference games. Missouri is 5-2 ATS in the last 7 home games, 5-2 ATS in the last 7 as a favorite of 10.5 points or more, 3-7 ATS following a straight up loss, 1-5 ATS in the last 6 home against teams with winning road records, 1-5 ATS in the last 6 on turf.

All of the losses for these teams came to top 25 teams. Neither will compete with the elite teams in the Big 12 which is at least the second best conference in the country with 6 teams ranked in the top 25. However, they might be able to qualify for a lesser bowl game. I think Missouri is a better team, but I am not sure if they are 14.5 points better than Iowa St.
