After a spectacular NCAA tournament providing winner after winner for their readership Chad Millman asked me for my take on Monday’s national championship game between Duke and Butler.

The college football season is almost upon us, with 11 games kicking off Aug. 30. And while more than 700 Football Bowl Subdivision games will be played this autumn, like any other season, a select few will be slated as potential Games of the Year. That said; here’s a look at the 10 regular-season games we’re most looking forward in 2007:
10) (tie) Miami at Oklahoma, TCU at Texas, Sept. 8–Seems more programs are coming around to the idea of not scheduling Austin Prey and friends in the early goings.
First up, there’s the rematch of the 1987 Orange Bowl in which Miami won, 20-14, to claim the national title. The programs haven’t met since.
As for TCU-Texas, the former Southwest Conference rivals haven’t met since 1995, and while the Frogs upset of OU in 2005 was monumental for the program, a win in Austin would mean tenfold in terms of in-state recruiting and pride.
Incidentally, the Hook ’em Horns hand signal originated at the 1955 TCU-Texas game.
9) LSU at Alabama, Nov. 3–To many Crimson Tide fans, Nick Saban (above right) could earn his entire contract with a defeat of his former team in Tuscaloosa. LSU has won four straight over ‘Bama.

The FBI is currently conducting an investigating regarding allegations that a veteran NBA referee affected the outcome of games. The unnamed referee is to have placed wagers on games while being a part of the officiating crew. The exploration is set to determine whether or not the referee made calls to affect the point spread in games over the last 2 seasons. The number of games this transpired in is still unknown, but reports are it could be in the double digits. The unnamed ref reportedly had a gambling problem and was approached by members of organized crime to fix games to settle his debts.

This is a little late but this is the first time I had the time to sit down and watch the House Financial Services Committee hearing chaired by Congressman Barney Frank on the repeal of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act which took place on Friday, June 8th.
