As we head into week 4 of the college football season, I think it’s safe to say the SEC is again the best conference in the country. LSU’s defense has looked unbeatable. Alabama is no slouch. Neither is Arkansas. Those two square off in Tuscaloosa this weekend. And don’t forget about South Carolina. Although they’ve been somewhat uninspiring, they look like the class of the East. If they can get through the regular season with just one loss, anything can happen in the SEC championship game. The Chicago Bears and Atlanta Falcons are set to square off this Sunday at Soldier Field in Chicago. For the Bears, this is the first game after their devastating home loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in last year’s NFC title game. For the Falcons, this is the first game after their devastating home loss to the eventual Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers in one of last year’s NFC divisional playoff games.

The Kansas City Chiefs emerged as the NFL’s top success story for 2010. Following a 4-12 campaign in 2009, the Chiefs rebounded with a 10-6 mark last season, good enough to win the AFC West division.
The Minnesota Golden Gophers nearly knocked off USC in LA last week. Jerry Kill’s bunch will look to notch its first win of the season when they entertain the New Mexico State Aggies this Saturday afternoon.

The Oregon Ducks have to be angry. They basically gave LSU the ball(game) last week. That loss alone might be enough to derail any national championship plans. They can still make the BCS title game, but to do so they basically need to run roughshod over the remainder of their schedule. For Oregon, the rest of the season begins this Saturday afternoon when they welcome the Nevada Wolf Pack to Eugene.
Here we go again. I’ve already been getting a heavy dose of BCS conference propaganda. The little guy can’t play with the big boys. A team like Boise State would be lucky to finish .500 in a major conference. Same crap, different year.
