The biggest injury news of the week is that the Green Bay Packers will be without running back Ryan Grant. He is out for the season with an ankle injury. The news had little impact on the NFL spreads. The Packers opened a 14-point favorite and it has gone down to 13. How much this effects the Packers will remain to be seen. The Packers are a pass-first team, but Grant was the go-to guy in the backfield, especially when the weather got bad later in the season. Brandon Jackson had 63 yards on 18 carries as Grant’s replacement last week, and may be able to fill the void. Here is a look at some of the significant injuries from the NFL injury report for week 2.

The dogfight of the week will be more like a pack wild dogs as Cal travels to face Nevada. You may not have a dog in the fight, but the over looks very tempting. It’s a huge number (66), but a look at the game shows why the number is so high. Cal has averaged 52 points a game the first two weeks and 436 yards off offense. Nevada has averaged 50 points a game and 352 yards offense. Both teams are going to put up some numbers, so it’s reasonable to think that they will both get into the 30s. You can get our premium picks for the Friday and Saturday games on our college football betting picks page of the site. Onto somemore anaylsis of the dogs for the week.

It’s just the first week of the National Football League season, but there were some games where key players left to concussions. Not only did it affect the outcomes of the opener, but it leaves a blurry picture on trying to handicap week 2 games. The most curious situation is in Philadelphia. Starter Kevin Kolb was knocked out with a concussion. Kolb’s stats were not impressive in the first half. He went 5 of 10 for 24 yards. Michael Vick came in and ignited the offense. He threw for 175 yards and a touchdown and ran for 103 yards. Eagles coach Andy Reid said after the game that Kolb is still the No. 1 quarterback and will return when healthy.

The Irish defense looked good against Purdue and that bodes well in betting against Michigan. The Wolverines are 0-6 ATS when they score fewer than 21 points over the past three seasons. Michigan is 2-11 ATS when they allow 28 or more points the past three seasons and 1-12 when they allow 10 or more yards per passing attempt since 1992.
