The Houston Rockets should be in the dumper. At least according to many who saw the season-ending injury to Yao Ming as being the death knell to the club’s playoff hopes. Well the NBA playoffs aren’t here yet, but the Rockets still look like a team destined to be not only in the post-season but competitive to boot. At least up to this point.

It’s number one playing number two in college basketball this Saturday and the # 2 Tennessee Volunteers travel from Knoxville to battle the #1 and undefeated Memphis Tigers at their home court. Memphis (12-0, 26- 1) sits atop Conference-USA, while Tennessee (11- 1, 24- 2) is first in the SEC.

This past week the Duke Blue Devils, then ranked second in the nation, were shocked by the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. In a hellacious battle, the Demons beat the Devils 86- 73, and with that Duke fell to number five in the country with a 22-2 record overall and a 10- 1 mark in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
