Maryland is 5-3 on the season, but unfortunately for the Terrapins all three of those losses have come in ACC play.
The Terrapins lone ACC victory came over NC State, but college football oddsmakers at Bovada predict the home team will get its second conference victory, favoring Maryland by 6-points over Syracuse.
Syracuse has experienced a lot of success with its rush attack this season, ranking 36th in the nation with 197.8 yards per game. The offense overall isn’t spectacular, generating just 25.1 points per game, but with a respectable defense its been enough for a mediocre season.
Syracuse will travel to Tallahassee to face the Florida State Seminoles next week, so picking up a victory against Maryland will prove important. The Orange close out the season with Pitt and Boston College.
Terrel Hunt and Drew Allen have split the QB duties for Syracuse, and Hunt has 806 passing yards on the year to go with his 270 rushing yards. Jerome Smith and Prince-Tyson Gulley have both been very good in the backfield with both backs sporting five-plus yard per carry rushing averages.
Maryland is kind of a reverse opposite of Syracuse offensively, relying heavily on the pass and having a bit more success with it (281.4 passing yards per game; 26th in nation) as the Terrapins generate 27.9 points per game. The defense allows 25.5 points per contest but has allowed an average of 37 points per game over the last two games, losses to Wake Forest and then-No. 9 Clemson.
Maryland will close the season with games against Virginia Tech, Boston College, and NC State.
Syracuse Trends: 4-0 ATS in last 4 in NOV; 1-6 ATS in last 7 road games vs teams with winning home records; OVER 5-1 in last 6 after allowing less than 100 rushing yards previous game.
Maryland Trends: OVER 4-0 in last 4 on grass; OVER 4-0 in last 4 after accumulating less than 100 yards rushing previous game; 0-6 ATS in last 6 after a bye week.
