Since being embarrassed and blanked by Clemson three weeks ago, the Miami Hurricanes have managed to get back-to-back wins over a then-No. 22 Duke squad and a 27-21 win over Virginia last week. The Hurricanes are 6-3 and in third place in the Coastal division, but are 13-point underdogs to No. 23 ranked North Carolina in college football odds. The game will air at 2:30 ET on ESPNU.

The Tar Heels are a team to beat for sure in the ACC, at 8-1 overall with a perfect 5-0 mark in conference play. If it defeats the Hurricanes and Pitt loses at Duke, it can claim a share of the Coastal division title.
Marquise Williams is a big reason why the Tar Heels have the No. 17 best offense in the country, but he has a lot of options at WR and that is keeping the offense varied. Mack Hollins and Ryan Switzer both have 500-plus yards receiving on the season and Bug Howard has 407. Quinshad Davis leads the team in total receptions (186) with a team-high 23 receiving TDs.
Coach Larry Fedora said of his WR group, “I really believe we’ve actually got more than four. We can throw Austin Proehl out there behind Switz and he can make plays for us…it’s just you can only get so many of them out on the field.” The Tar Heels destroyed Duke 66-31 last weekend, and the Blue Devils are a formidable team most weeks.

Williams connected to Switzer on a flea flicker for an 89-yard TD on the first snap of the game, and then Williams found Hollins for a 74-yard TD late in the first half. With a second to go before the intermission he found Howard for a 49-yard TD pass. It was UNC’s day.
The Tar Heels had 494 yards passing and Hollins had five catches for 165 yards against Duke. Switzer had his second 100 yard game of the season, and Howard had 83 yards, as well.
Miami is 2-0 under interim coach Larry Scott, and Brad Kaaya returned from his one-game absence (concussion) to pass for 286 yards and two TDs last week while Stacy Coley had 132 receiving yards and a TD. Kaaya said it “felt great getting back out there.” He is the defining talent on the Hurricanes roster and has thrown for 2,132 yards on the season with a 62.7 percent completion ratio. He has 12 TD passes and three INTs, good for a passer rating of 146.2.
Miami RB Joseph Yearby has rushed for 719 yards on 143 carries (five yards per attempt) and has five rushing TDs on the season. Rashawn Scott, Herb Waters and Coley all have 32 or more receptions on the year and have combined for over 1500 yards as a trio.
