Lots of interesting news out of the SEC day 2. Ole Miss who opens up the season September 2nd against Memphis is now uncertain if starting QB Tennessee transfer Brent Schaeffer will be able to start the season opener or even be on campus when the team opens up practice on August 3rd. Schaeffer is the only player on the Rebels roster to take a snap at QB and is a must if Ole Miss hopes to have a shot at a bowl game this season.
The Arkansas Razorbacks have announced that head coach Houston Nutt has given up the play calling abilities to recently hired high school coach Gus Malzon. Malzon was a genius at the high school level with his innovated high powered offense. The Razorbacks have high hopes for this season as they return 19 starters from last years young 4-7 team. A bowl is highly probable and a trip to the SEC Title game is not out of the question.
Finally we will get an answer to the Auburn’s Academic investigation tomorrow. This stems from a July 14th article in the New York Times which alleged that Auburn athletes took advantage of direct-reading courses. Head coach Tommy Tuberville will address the media on Friday but don’t expect any disciplinary action from Auburn or the NCAA on this matter.
