SEA, News & Notes:
The Seattle Seahawks trail San Francisco by one full game for the NFC West lead. The final game of the regular season is against the 49ers, so it could potentially set up an exciting fight for the division crown. Seattle has got it done with the NFL’s third-best rushing offense, which generates 140.8 yards per game. The Seahawks balance it well, ranking No. 11 in passing yards and creating an offense that ranks No. 6 overall in scoring at 26.2 per game. Defensively things have been less than stellar, but the Seahawks have fared well in close games this season and are 10-3 despite having just a 1.5 point positive differential.
Veteran quarterback Russell Wilson has turned in another impressive season. He has thrown for 3,422 yards at a 66.8 percent clip with 26 touchdowns to just five picks. His passer rating is 107.5. Wilson’s top-two targets have cleaned up. Tyler Lockett and DK Metcalf have combined for over 1600 yards and 11 touchdowns. Tight end Will Dissly functions as the No. 3 option with 23 of 27 targeted passes caught for 262 yards and four touchdowns.
In the backfield, Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny have been the No. 1 and No. 2 running backs. Carson does the heavy lifting with 246 attempts on the season for over 1,000 yards, but Penny leads the team in yards-per-carry at 5.7 on his 65 carries. Wilson, of course, is a rushing threat in his own right, averaging five yards per attempt and having amassed 312 yards this season with three touchdowns. Seattle has 12 rushing touchdowns on the season.

CAR, News & Notes:
The Carolina Panthers are a disappointing 5-8 after having lost its last five overall. Losses to Green Bay, Atlanta, New Orleans, Washington, and Atlanta (again), have taken a 5-3 season and turned it into a sub-.500 disaster of sorts.
Carolina ranks No. 19 in passing yardage and No. 12 in rushing yardage, but it has executed the small things fairly well to create a No. 14 ranked scoring offense. The major issue has not been the offense, though. The Panthers are giving up 27.7 points per game, which adds up to a differential of -4.6 points.
The Panthers have turned to Kyle Allen at QB, and he has delivered. Well, more like “sort of” delivered…Allen has 2,750 yards on 62.2 percent passing with 16 touchdowns, but he has made his miscues, with 12 interceptions, not to mention incurring 44 sacks (!) for 385 yards lost. Allen also has rushed for 76 yards on 25 attempts, averaging three yards-per-carry and having scored two touchdowns. Lead rusher Christian McCaffrey has more or less carried the offense. He has rushed 246 times for 1,220 yards and 12 of the team’s 17 rushing touchdowns. He also functions as the No. 2 receiving option with 726 yards receiving and four TD catches. DJ Moore is the WR No. 1 with 1,061 yards and four touchdowns. Carolina has scored 16 TDs via the pass, and its top-four receivers have all but one of those (backup Tight end Ian Thomas has the other).
