MIA
Miami lost a close one to Florida in Week 1 after carrying a three-point lead into the fourth quarter. Jarren Williams completed 19 of 30 passes for 214 yards with a TD and no picks, and Williams rushed 15 times for a total loss of 43-yards. DeeJay Dallas was the only Hurricane with success rushing, as he picked up 94 yards on 11 carries with a TD. Miami as a team averaged just 2.4 yards-per-carry, but Dallas was good for 8.5 per. Brevin Jordan caught five passes for 88 yards with a TD and KJ Osborn caught four for 41 yards. Dallas caught four passes out of the backfield for another 37-yards, showing the versatility he has an offensive weapon for Miami.
Miami’s defense held Florida to just 50 rushing yards on 28 attempts (1.8 yards per). Lamical Perrine had 42 yards on 10 carries, but no other Gator had any sort of success. The secondary of the Hurricanes was also good in picking off two of Feleipe Franks’ passes, but it still did surrender 254 yards and two touchdowns. Guervan Hall Jr had eight tackles, three solo, and one for loss, and Scott Pachan, Shaq Quarterman, Al Blades Jr, and Jonathan Garvin all had four tackles or more. Miami’s pressure created just one QB sack and five tackles-for-loss, so it will need a lot of work to recapture the havoc it created in 2018.
