ARI
Dual-option running back David Johnson has finally broken through. He had 183 all-purpose yards against the Chiefs, and he has 492 yards on the season but was averaging just 3.4 yards-per-carry. Johnson has all six Chiefs rushing TDs and 29 first downs, also leading the team. No one else on Arizona makes much of a contribution out of the backfield. Josh Rosen has taken over at QB and has 1,280 yards while averaging 160.7 per game.
Rosen has six TD passes and eight interceptions and has been sacked 21 times for a loss of 155 yards. His passer rating is just 67.8, but he has shown sufficient promise to invest some time in his development. Christian Kirk and Larry Fitzgerald both have over 400 receiving yards and two touchdowns apiece, as well as 37 first downs between them. Johnson has 292 receiving yards, averaging 9.4 yards-per-catch on mostly short routes. But he has scored two receiving TDs, as well. Arizona averages just 236.2 yards per game and 13.8 points per game, while it surrenders 25.0 per game, a differential of -11.2 points.
OAK
The Oakland Raiders have lost five straight since its week 4 win over the Cleveland Browns, its lone win of the season. Oakland is 1-8 and in last place in the AFC West. It has been outscored 272 to 147 this season while averaging just 16.3 points per game. Oakland surrenders 30.2, with a poor defense unable to compensate for an offense that is hardly good in its own right.
Derek Carr has been solid, but not spectacular with 10 TD passes and eight interceptions, not to mention his 28 sacks for 169 yards lost. His passer rating is a mediocre mark of 93.5. Jared Cook has 546 receiving yards and a team-tying best three TDs. Jalen Richard has 400 yards on 48 catches with four for 20-yards or better. Jordy Nelson has 353 yards and three TDs. Amari Cooper has 280 yards. Marshawn Lynch leads the rush attack at 376 yards on 90 carries with three of the team’s four rushing TDs. Doug Martin has been similarly ineffective with 4.3 yards-per-carry and no touchdowns on the season. The Raiders average just 4.2 yards-per-rush-attempt, and Carr has been marginal at best with 2.4 yards-per-carry on his 18 attempts.
The Raiders kickers have combined to hit just 14 of 19 field goals, but all five misses have come beyond 40-yards. Johnny Townsend averages 42.9 yards per punt with two touchbacks and an average return of 5.9 yards.
