The Chiefs host the Bengals Sunday night in a battle of first place teams.

Two potential AFC playoff contenders meet Sunday night as the 5-1 Kansas City Chiefs host the 4-2 Cincinnati Bengals. This game was flexed into prime time instead of the Los Angeles Rams against the San Francisco 49ers. Kansas City leads the AFC West by a half game over the 5-2 Los Angeles Chargers. Cincinnati is tied for first place in the AFC North with the Baltimore Ravens. 

The Bengals lead the series 15-13 against the Chiefs. Cincinnati has won four straight games in the series including 36-21 in Cincinnati in 2015. 

Cincinnati is coached by Marvin Lewis. The Bengals have home wins over the Indianapolis Colts 34-23, Baltimore Ravens 34-23, and Miami Dolphins 27-17, plus a road win at the Atlanta Falcons 37-36. Cincinnati has a road loss  to the Carolina Panthers 31-21, plus a home loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers 28-2 last week. The Bengals were 1.5 point underdogs against the Steelers and the total was 49.5. Cincinnati is is 4-2 ATS and the total is 4-2 this season. 

Kansas City is coached by Andy Reid. The Chiefs have  road wins at the LA Chargers 38-28, Pittsburgh Steelers 42-37, and Denver Broncos 27-23, plus home wins over the San Francisco 49ers 38-27 and Jacksonville Jaguars 30-14. Washington has a road loss at the New England Patriots 43-40 last week. The Chiefs were 3.5 point underdogs against the Patriots and the total was 59.5. Kansas City is 6-0 ATS and the total is 4-2 this season.

Cincinnati is outscoring teams 29-26 this season. The Bengals  are #6 in scoring and #23 in points allowed. Running back Joe Mixon has 71 carries for 336 yards and 2 touchdowns, plus 13 catches for 99 yards and a touchdown.  Giovani Bernard has 34 carries for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns plus 14 catches for 78 yards. He is out with a knee injury. Mark Walton will get the back-up carries. 

Receiver A.J. Green has 33 catches for 494 yards and 5 touchdowns.  Tyler Boyd has 37 catches for 454 yards and 4 touchdowns. Tyler Eifert has 15 catches for 179  yards and a touchdown. He is out for the season with an ankle injury. C.J. Uzomah has 15 catches for 179 yards and a touchdown and also has 55 rushing yards on six carries. John Ross will also get some catches. Eleven defensive players and four offensive linemen are listed on the injury report.

Kansas City is outscoring teams 36-29 this season. The Chiefs are #27 in points allowed and #2 in scoring. Receiver Tyreek Hill has 34 catches for 567 yards and 6 touchdowns, plus 37 rushing yards. Tight end Travis Kelce  has 33 catches for 468 yards and 3 touchdowns. Sammy Watkins has 22 catches for 272 yards and a touchdown, plus 50 rushing yards. Chris Conley has 12catches for 98 yards and 2 touchdowns. Eight defensive players and four offensive linemen are listed on the injury report. 

The under is 6-2 in this series recently. 

Both of these teams have explosive offenses and not very good defenses. I expect a lot of points and I don’t think the Bengals can keep up with the Chiefs.
