The Florida Gators are 2-1 after a Week 3 victory over Colorado State. Already saddled with one SEC loss to Kentucky, the Gators will travel to Knoxville to face the Tennessee Volunteers at 6 PM CT on ESPN. Florida is 4.5-point favorites in the game, which has an over/under of 44.5 points according to college football oddsmakers at bookmaker 5dimes.

FLORIDA

Florida won 48-10 over Colorado State last week as Feleipe Franks threw 8 of 15 for 119 yards and two TDs with one interception. Franks also rushed seven times for 37 yards. Dameon Pierce rushed only five times for 87 yards (17.4 yards-per-attempt) with a TD and a long rush of 68-yards. Jordan Scarlett contributed another 56 yards on six attempts. Van Jefferson led receiving yardage with 62 yards on two catches, including a TD catch.

This week also marks Florida’s first road game of the season. Franks has thrown for 570 yards through three games with nine TDs and two interceptions for a 148.8 passer rating. Pierce has rushed for 11.6 yards-per-carry on his 14 attempts to lead the team with 162 rushing yards and a TD on the year. His touchdown rush was a 68-yard haul, while Scarlett has contributed another 105 yards on 19 attempts with a 30-yard TD rush of his own.

Franks is averaging 4.5 yards-per-attempt from the QB position as a rusher, and Lamical Perine has added 99 yards on 13 attempts. Jefferson and Freddie Swain lead all receivers with 127 and 105 yards on the season, respectively.

Florida is averaging 38.3 points per game while holding opponents to 14.3 per (No. 17 in the nation). The Gators possess the No. 63 rush offense and are ranked No. 93 in passing yardage. Getting more out of the passing game will be a priority moving forward.

TENN

Tennessee is 2-1 with consecutive wins following its opening week loss to ranked West Virginia. The Vols have since knocked off Eastern Tennessee and UTEP, but its schedule gets much tougher in the upcoming weeks. Following this week, it faces SEC ranked opponents No. 2 Georgia and No. 9 Auburn, before an Oct 20 matchup against top-ranked Alabama. Facing three top-10 opponents in a row will reveal what Tennessee is, or is not, made over.

The Vols have received excellent play from QB Jarrett Guarantano, who has thrown 39 of 54 (72.2 percent) for 494 yards and two TDs (no interceptions). He is also averaging 9.15 yards per attempt, while Marquez Callaway and Josh Palmer have been his top two targets. Callaway has caught 12 passes for 149 yards and Palmer has caught just six for 148 yards.

Leading rusher Tim Jordan is averaging 4.8 yards-per-carry on his 48 attempts for a team-high 232 yards and a team-tying lead two TDs. Ty Chandler has rushed for 154 yards, and Madre London has added 133, while Jeremy Banks has rushed for 118 yards. All have scored a TD. Guarantano has had little success rushing as a QB with 10 attempts for a net of one-yard loss. He has a 14-yard long run, but has been mostly ineffective and should not be considered much of a “Dual-threat.”
