The Philadelphia Eagles fell to 1-1 last week after its 20-27 defeat at the hands of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Eagles return home this week to host the New York Giants at Noon (Central) on FOX as 6-point favorites in a game which will feature an over/under of 43.5 points according to NFL oddsmakers at bookmaker Bovada.

The Eagles have done well against New York in recent history as winners of 12 of the last 16 meetings between the teams dating back to 2009. Giants quarterback Eli Manning has struggled against Philly, and he has not been great in the 2017 season, either. Manning and the Giants (0-2) have mustered just 13 points through the first two games, and last week he was sacked five times for 31 lost yards while also throwing an interception.

The Giants managed just 62 rushing yards against Detroit, too, good for only 3.4 yards per attempt without a rushing TD in the game. Shane Vereen had just 28 yards on six attempts, with a long rush of only 8-yards.

The Giants are getting 224.5 yards per game from Manning, but he has thrown more interceptions (2) than touchdowns (1) and has been sacked an average of four times per game. Last year against the Eagles, Manning threw for 356 yards but launched three interceptions and averaged just 5.6 yards per pass attempt as the Eagles won 24-19 in Week 2 of the 2016 season.In 2015, he was equally as bad with only 189 yards and two interceptions with a touchdown as the Giants managed just 7-points and lost by 20. History suggests that Philadelphia will have its way again, and the Eagles will likely improve to 2-1 with a victory today.

Philly was the second victim of Kareem Hunt’s coming out party last week, as the Chiefs rookie running back rushed for two more TDs and Travis Kelce scored the go-ahead TD on a 15-yard shovel pass. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz was very effective with 333 passing yards on 25 of 46 passing, but he was sacked six (!) times for 34 total lost yards and did throw a pick. Wentz rushed for 55 yards on four attempts, but he got little help from his running backs with Darren Sproles accumulating 48 yards and Wendell Smallwood going for four. The game was close and Philly was right there, but Kansas City executes well at home, and the fourth quarter saw the difference-making TD as KC outpaced Philly 14-10 in the final quarter.

New York’s No.1 back Orleans Darkwa is averaging 5.2 yards per carry–but the Giants are not getting much from No. 2 back Paul Perkins, who is good for only 1.9 yards per attempt. The Eagles’ secondary will be a little weaker without cornerback Ronald Darby, who is fighting a dislocated ankle. He held Odell Beckham, Jr to just 38 yards receiving and broke up a couple passes last year while playing for the Buffalo Bills.

The Giants offense will cause its collapse once again though, as the Bills have failed to score more than 20 points in its last eight contests and Manning simply has not been good of late.
