Oregon took care of business against California on Thursday night, winning 68-65. Tyler Dorsey and Chris Boucher combined for 35 points with each hitting 6 of 11 from the field and the Ducks won despite shooting just 40.7 percent from the floor as a team while also being out rebounded 38-35 in the game.

Oregon has been getting quality production from Dorsey this season, as he is averaging 14.8 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Dillon Brooks leads the team in scoring with 15.2 points per game while also ranking second on the team in rebounding with 6.3 boards per game.

Boucher leads the Ducks on the glass with 8.3 rebounds accompanying his 12.3 points per game. The 6’10” junior forward is in his first NCAA season and has appeared to be more than ready for the task. In the win over Cal he had 18 points and five boards with a three.

Boucher is hitting 33 percent from behind the arc while attempting three per game, part of his brilliance as an inside-outside offensive talent for Oregon. Over his last five games, Boucher has gone 7 of 22 from three-point range while scoring in double figures in all but the 88-60 blowout win over Western Oregon.

Brooks had an off-game against Cal, but prior to that contest he had scored 17.5 points per game over the previous four. Brooks scored 23 on 9 of 15 shooting in the win over Alabama, and he is capable of having some big nights. The Ducks are 4-1 when he scores 20 points or more, and getting him involved early and often is the key to this team reaching the pinnacle of its success. When Brooks scores 15 points or less the Ducks are 6-2, but a few of those wins came over vastly inferior programs.

Stanford is 9-5 on the season but comes in as winners of four of its past five. It won over Oregon State 78-72 on Thursday night as Stanford placed three scorers in double figures, led by Rosco Allen’s 21 points on 5 of 10 shooting. Allen is averaging 14.1 points and six rebounds per game this year as a senior.

The 6’9” forward looked primed for a bigger role after seeing 26 minutes per game last season, but the biggest improvement has been his offensive efficiency. After shooting just 38 percent from the floor last year, he has upped that figure to a very respectable 44.6 percent. He is the team leader on the offensive end and the Hungarian has been able to do a little bit of everything, even stepping behind the arc with a 40 percent mark from there.

The Cardinal have a very balanced attack that features five players averaging double figures, but the team is a bit short on depth. 6’3” junior guard Marcus Allen has become a big minutes guy, with 32.9 minutes per game equating in 12.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game. He has scored 14 or more in three of the past five games, and save a poor performance against the Colorado Buffaloes, he has been consistent.

Getting Marcus Allen to up-tick his production in addition to Rosco Allen’s brilliance could be the key in this Stanford team either being an NCAA tournament pick or a NIT powerhouse.

It really could go either way, at this point.
