Boise State is known for opening the season in a high-profile affair, but this matchup will be difference, considering longtime head coach Chris Petersen is now in the Pacific Northwest with the Washington Huskies. Dual-threat quarterback Grant Hedrick will lead the offense, as he comes off a season of gaining 277 yards on the ground and throwing for 1,825 in the air. Seven starters return on the offensive side of the ball, with running back Jay Alayi being a major weapon. Boise State has covered the number in six of its last eight neutral-site affairs, which is important to consider when making your college football predictions due to this game being played at the Georgia Dome.
The Broncos have one of their more experienced linebackers corps in the last decade, which will allow the overall unit to improve upon their 24.8 points per game allowed from a season ago. Wallace has a major weapon in sophomore wide receiver Laquon Treadwell, who set freshman records for catches and receiving yards within the program. Mississippi is 5-0-1 ATS in its last six affairs when playing on a neutral field.
The Rebels have one of the more talented defenses in the Southeastern Conference, which will make things difficult on the Broncos, especially with Freshman All-American first team lineman Robert Knemdiche in the fold. All SEC picks Serderius Bryant and Denzel Nkemdiche will lead a linebacking group that’s in charge of stopping Alayi in the backfield.
