Washington has won three games in a row, including a 2-1 victory over San Francisco as +117 road underdogs Tuesday, while going UNDER the betting total for the fourth time in six affairs.  The Nationals will be led by Ian Desmond and Jayson Werth offensively, as they’ve gone 9 for 18 combined in their careers against tonight’s opposing starter.  Washington is 4-6 as a road underdog of +100 to +125 this season, with the UNDER going 5-3-2 in that situation.

Nationals starting pitcher Tanner Roark (4-4, 2.91 ERA) registered a 6-0 road victory over the San Diego Padres in his last trip to the mound, as he scattered just three hits over eight shutout innings.  The right-hander is 2-1 with a 4.42 ERA in six road outings—surrendering five home runs in 36.2 combined frames.  Roark has allowed two or fewer runs in eight of 12 efforts.

San Francisco has dropped two games in a row, while going UNDER the betting total for the first time in four affairs.  The Giants would tie their longest losing streak of the season with a setback in this spot, while they’ve haven’t dropped a series since taking on the Pittsburgh Pirates from May 5-7.  Offensively, the club went 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position in its last affair, which has been a consistent problem despite a fantastic overall record in 2014.  San Francisco is 4-5 at home with a money line of -100 to -125.

Giants starting pitcher Matt Cain (1-3, 3.52 ERA) has led the club to three consecutive victories, but he didn’t earn a decision in a 4-2 triumph at home over the New York Mets last time out.  The right-hander is 1-1 with a 2.91 ERA in three home games, with opposing hitters batting .173 against him.  Cain has compiled a 3-0 record and 1.66 ERA in five home starts in this series since 2007.

Sports bettors will likely back the Giants due to their 7-3 record in Cain’s last 10 efforts versus the Nationals.
