New York had its three-game winning streak snapped Tuesday, as it suffered a 6-0 defeat to St. Louis as +137 road underdogs, while going UNDER the betting total of 7.5.    Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira missed his second straight game due to soreness in his surgically repaired right wrist, while shortstop Derek Jeter likely prepares for his last game at this ballpark.  New York is 5-4 as road underdogs of +100 to +125 this season, with the OVER going 7-2 in that situation.

Yankees starting pitcher Hiroki Kuroda (3-3, 4.55 ERA) didn’t earn a decision in a 6-5 road defeat to the Chicago White Sox in his last trip to the mound, as he allowed four runs (two earned) and eight hits over 4.2 innings of work.  The right-hander is 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in four road outings, with opposing hitters batting .253 against him.  In five lifetime appearances versus the Cardinals, Kuroda has put together a 1-2 record and 3.19 ERA.

St. Louis has won 10 of its last 14 contests, as it continues to chase the Milwaukee Brewers in the National League Central standings.  The Cardinals will be led by outfielder Matt Holliday offensively in this affair, considering he’s batting .375 with two home runs and eight RBIs in 11 career games versus the Bronx Bombers.  St. Louis is 2-6 after shutting out its opponent during the 2014 campaign, with the UNDER going 6-2 in that situation.

Cardinals starting pitcher Shelby Miller (6-3, 3.18 ERA) was handed a 5-3 road loss by the Cincinnati Reds in his last effort—allowing four runs and five hits over five innings of work.  The right-hander is 3-1 with a 2.19 ERA in four home starts, with opposing hitters batting .236 against him.  In five career interleague outings, Miller has tallied a 2-2 record and 5.79 ERA.

Sports bettors will likely back the Cardinals due to their 40-15 record in their last 55 home games.
