Seattle Mariners vs. Texas Rangers

America East Tournament Preview
The Texas Rangers have alternated wins and losses over their last eight games

Seattle has scored just one run in dropping its last two games, including a 3-0 shutout defeat to the Oakland Athletics as +128 home underdogs Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total in each of those affairs.  The Mariners were 7-12 versus the Rangers a season ago, but could turn the tables with the addition of free agent second baseman Robinson Cano.  Seattle is 12-19 as a road underdog of +100 to +125 the last two-plus seasons, with the OVER going 17-12 in that situation.

Mariners starting pitcher Roenis Elias (0-1, 2.70 ERA) will be making his third professional start in this affair, as he looks to bounce back from a 2-0 home defeat to the Los Angeles Angels last time out.  The left-hander has allowed three runs and six hits over 10 combined innings through two outings this season.  Elias will be making his first career appearance versus the Rangers.

Texas has alternated wins and losses over its last eight games, as it attempts to build off a 1-0 victory over the Houston Astros as -159 home favorites Sunday, while going UNDER the betting total in three of its last four affairs.  The Rangers are hoping that first baseman Prince Fielder can start producing at the plate, as he’s hitting .149 through his first 12 games since being acquired via a trade with the Detroit Tigers in the offseason.  Texas is 12-15 at home with a money line of -100 to -125 since the 2012 campaign.

Rangers starting pitcher Colby Lewis will return to the mound after a 21-month absence and two operations, but he’s gone 4-0 with a 2.45 ERA in six career starts versus the Mariners at this ballpark.  The right-hander didn’t earn a decision in four outings this spring—surrendering eight runs and 12 hits over nine combined innings of work.

Sports bettors will likely back the Rangers due to their 11-1 record in their last 12 games as a home favorite.
