The Denver Nuggets are 21-21 o the season and trail the 8th seeded Dallas Mavericks by 2.5 games for the final playoff spot in the West. Denver is 9-12 on the road this season and will travel to face Sacramento in a game NBA oddsmakers at Bovada are favoring the Nuggets by 4-points.
Denver won a big one last night (Saturday) against the Eastern Conference’s premier team, the Indiana Pacers, winning 109-96. Wilson Chandler had 25 points and six other Nuggets scored in double figures. The Nuggets are still one of the deepest teams in the NBA with six players on the team averaging double figures. Ty Lawson leads the way with 17.7 points per game and nine assists.
Kenneth Faried has seen a reduction in role and is averaging just 10 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. The Nuggets are a team that desperately need a star player, because the roster as rendered cannot do much better than make the playoffs.
Making the playoffs would be enough for weary Kings fans. Sacramento has a glut of talent in Isaiah Thomas, DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, Marcus Thornton, Ben McLemore, Patrick Patterson, and so on, but the team has found little continuity.
The Kings have lost four of its past five contest with the lone victory a 114-97 win over New Orleans. The team has too much talent to be just 15-27, but it may take a major trade since Cousins still has a lot of value and could allow Sacramento to head a different direction. Cousins is not expected to play after suffering an ankle injury on Wednesday night.
