The Philadelphia Eagles may be without quarterback Michael Vick, but even facing that uncertainty NFL oddsmakers at Bovada felt confident enough to place the Eagles as 3-point favorites over the 0-4 Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs are a team in disarray. Tampa Bay parted ways with Josh Freeman after unsuccessfully shopping him to other teams, and rookie QB Mike Glennon isn’t quite ready to take the helms – yet he has to. He managed to throw 23 of 43 for 193 yards, but he was picked twice and fumbled the ball once.
It’s a lot to expect Glennon to turn around the Bucs horrible offense, and the Bucs have generated just 11 points per game this season with an average of just 274.8 yards per game. The Eagles defense is extremely poor, but there really isn’t anyone on Tampa Bay talented enough to exploit it.
Philly will hope for a better week from their featured back LeSean McCoy, as he carried 20 times for just 46 yards last week. The Eagles offense is predicated on both McCoy and Vick running the football, and the team ranks 1st in the NFL in rushing yardage with 186.6 per game, while maintaining a respectable 11th in passing yards. The main problem, again, has been a defense which has allowed 33 points or more in four of their five contest.
