South Carolina picked up a 27-10 season-opening victory over North Carolina as 11-point home favorites last Thursday, while going UNDER the betting total of 56. The Gamecocks extended their regular-season winning streak over non-conference opponents to 17 games, which can’t be ignored when making your college football predictions Saturday. Head coach Steve Spurrier is 15-5 SU in his career against Georgia, including a 4-4 mark during his time in Columbia. South Carolina is 10-8-1 ATS as road underdogs of 3.5 to 7 points in its last 19 opportunities.
The Gamecocks have won each of their last three meetings with the Bulldogs, including a 35-7 victory as one-point home favorites in 2012. South Carolina has entered a game ranked in the top 10 seven times when facing another top 10 foe, with the program losing six of those affairs. Quarterback Connor Shaw has compiled a 18-3 record in 21 career starts, while sophomore Mike Davis seems primed to carry the load in the backfield. They’ll both benefit from an offensive line that returns four starters.
Georgia will look to bounce back from a 38-35 setback to the Clemson Tigers as 1.5-point road favorites last Saturday, while going OVER the betting total of 70.5. The Bulldogs are 30-45-2 all-time against ranked opponents in Sanford Stadium, including a 5-4 mark in Top 10 battles. Quarterback Aaron Murray is the NCAA’s active leader with 95 career touchdown passes and ranks fourth in passing efficiency at 158.47. Georgia is 14-9 ATS as favorite the last two-plus seasons, with no edge in terms of the betting total (11-11-2 Over/Under).
The Bulldogs feature a potent sophomore duo at tailback in Todd Gurley and Keith Marshall, as they combined for 2,144 yards and 25 touchdowns in 2012 as true freshmen. On the other side of the football, Georgia had six new starters on defense, including three true freshmen against the Tigers in Death Valley. The unit allowed 467 yards of total offense on 76 plays.
Sports bettors will find that the Gamecocks are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six meetings in this series.
