Arizona has dropped three of its first four games on its current road trip, including a 3-0 shutout defeat to Atlanta as +154 underdogs Friday, while going UNDER the total for the fifth time in six contests.  “We didn’t have much going,” commented Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson.  The Diamondbacks have had 10 straight games decided by three runs or less, as they look to improve upon their 13-9 daytime record in 2013.  Arizona is 6-5 as road underdogs of +125 to +150 this season, with the OVER going 7-4 in that situation.

Diamondbacks starting pitcher Ian Kennedy (3-4, 5.21 ERA) has watched the club drop his last three outings, including a no-decision effort in a 4-1 road loss to the San Diego Padres last time out.  The right-hander is 1-3 with a 5.60 ERA in nine road appearances, surrendering 11 home runs in 53 combined frames.  In four career starts versus the Braves, Kennedy has tallied a 2-0 record and 2.84 ERA, including a 5-3 home win on May 15.

Atlanta has won three of its last four games, with the betting total cashing in three of those opportunities.  The Braves continue to see a better approach at the plate from second baseman Dan Uggla, who has raised his average from .175 to .202 over the past 21 games.  The club owns a 62-48 lead in the all-time series, including a 29-23 mark at this ballpark.  Atlanta is 7-3 as home favorites of -125 to -150, with the UNDER going 6-4 in those 10 affairs.

Braves starting pitcher Tim Hudson (4-7, 4.10 ERA) was handed a 2-0 road loss by the Milwaukee Brewers in his last outing, as he allowed two runs and seven hits over six frames.  The right-hander is 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in seven home appearances, with opposing hitters batting just .190 against him.  In 10 career games versus the Diamondbacks, Hudson has tallied a 7-1 record and 1.86 ERA, but was handed a 5-3 loss when opposing Kennedy last month.

Sports bettors will likely back the Braves due to their 42-17 record in Hudson’s last 59 home starts.
