Sure folks were concerned when RB Edgerrin James left the Colts and went to the Arizona Cardinals. But the Colts, who had had James, found a few guys who could step up, including RB Joseph Addai, who really turned up and fine tuned his ground game in 2006.But now the Colts are losing offensive LT Tarik Glenn, an eleven-year veteran. Reports are that the veteran has said that he is simply burned out and will not return to training camp. For 10 years, Glenn, who is 31, has been a reliable element in Peyton Manning’s pass protection. It seems that Glenn had thought seriously about retiring after helping the club win the Super Bowl last season.

Glenn, who is scheduled to earn about 4.5 million this season, is an extremely part op the Indy offense, helping to provide a wall of pass protection and openings for running backs. Glenn was supposed to be the veteran presence amongst a range of relatively new offensive linemen. His departure leaves the Colts with the need to find the guy who can lead and keep the Indy offense in synch.

Glenn, who has been in 154 games with Indy, is a former University of California star. In ten years he’s missed a total of six games.

Glenn is simply looking to retire. His leaving could be cause for concern as a stable vet presence and especially skilled player will be missing, giving Manning and his running backs less help.
