New York has won three of its last four games, including a 17-10 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars as three-point road favorites, while going UNDER the total in consecutive contests. The Jets are trying to position themselves to gain one of the two AFC Wild Card spots, but it’s definitely a long shot. “I’m not going to guarantee a playoff spot,” stated Jets head coach Rex Ryan. The offense needs to improve down the stretch, as it has gained a combined 559 yards in the last two games. New York is 4-2 ATS as a road underdog of three or fewer points over the last two-plus seasons.
The Jets will need to try and get running back Shonn Greene the football, as they’ve won 10 of 11 games when he carries the ball at least 20 times in a game and 17-2 when he gets at least 16 carries. Quarterback Mark Sanchez can’t be counted on to carry the offense, considering he has thrown for 208 combined yards and three interceptions during the team’s current two-game win streak.
Tennessee will take center stage on Monday Night Football for the 37th time in franchise history, as it has tallied a 20-16 all-time record when playing in the event, including wins in the last three. The Titans will be attempting to snap a three-game losing streak despite winning the statistical battle in each of those affairs. The team has won four of six games on this particular day when playing at LP Field. Tennessee is 3-7 ATS in December the last two-plus seasons, which can’t be ignored when making your NFL picks against the spread.
The Titans will be meeting the Jets for the 41st time, as they lead the series by a 22-17-1 margin. Tennessee ranks 23rd in the league in averaging 331.9 yards per game, but do have running back Chris Johnson, who became just the eight player in NFL history to run for at least 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons. It’s important to note that he’s gained just 175 yards on 53 carries in the last three games.
Sports bettors will likely back the Jets due to their 4-1 ATS mark on the road, while the Titans are 2-6 ATS in their last eight home games.
