Tennessee will play the last of three consecutive games against AFC South opponents, as it focuses on gaining revenge from a 19-13 overtime loss to Indianapolis as 3.5-point home favorites on Oct. 28. The Titans have lost their last two games, including a 24-10 setback to the Houston Texans as seven-point home underdogs. “It seems like this is one of those years where what can go wrong is going wrong,” stated Titans second-year coach Mike Munchak. Defensively, the team ranks 31st in the league in allowing 29.9 points per game. Tennessee is 0-4 ATS versus divisional foes this year, with the UNDER going 3-1 in those contests.
The Titans will have to win out to finish the season with an even 8-8 record, which could provide a bit of motivation inside the locker room, especially after turning the ball over six times last week. Tennessee is 14-22 all-time against Indianapolis, but has gone 0-4 inside Lucas Oil Stadium. Running back Chris Johnson is the key player offensively, as he needs seven rushing yards to record his fifth consecutive 1,000-yard season on the ground in his career.
Indianapolis has won six of its last seven games, including a thrilling 35-33 come-from-behind win over the Detroit Lions as seven-point road underdogs last week, which also served as the team’s seventh-straight statistical victory. “There’s some really good football teams behind us and we just have to take care of our own business,” stated Colts interim coach Bruce Arians. He’s referencing the fact that the franchise is in position to gain one of the two AFC Wild Card spots if the season ended today. Indianapolis is 5-1 ATS at home, with the UNDER going 5-1 in that situation.
The Colts are glad to be playing at home, considering that rookie quarterback Andrew Luck is responsible for 17 turnovers in six road games this season. He completed 24-of-54 passes for 391 yards and four touchdowns last week, but also threw three interceptions. Veteran wide receiver Reggie Wayne continues to be his main target, as he ranks third in the NFL with 88 receptions.
Sports bettors will likely play the Colts due to their 5-1 ATS mark when the total is between 42.5 and 49 points this season, while the Titans are 0-3 ATS off a loss against a division rival.
