CFB- Weiss, Carroll and Saban

Okay, here’s the skinny (sorry for the pun Charlie Weiss). Weiss underwent gastric bypass surgery when he was with the New England Patriots and almost died after surgery. He took his doctors to court, claiming that they had messed up post-op care. But the trial ended up in a hung jury and Weiss, with no settlement in site, has decided to pursue the doctors once again.
Weiss claims that doctors neglected internal bleeding for 30 hours after his 2002 operation. But Weiss later landed one of the most prestigious coaching jobs in the nation—Notre Dame. He also managed to lose weight. Those two facts may hurt him in the retrial.

The big question is will Charlie be distracted by this new trial that is presently going through jury selection? How will this second trial affect his ability to perform as the coach of ND in what is, with the graduation of QB Brady Quinn, a pivotal year?

Another former New England coach, Pete Carroll, looks poised to capture the National Championship once again. Carroll has recruited an amazing class and his enthusiasm and ability to focus his players is legendary. His recruiting is simply magical. USC, with a focused Carroll, could simply be unstoppable.

Nick Saban has left the Dolphins and is now the Alabama Crimson Tide coach. He looks determined to make the Tide one of the preeminent programs once again. Saban coached LSU and then went to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins. His return to the college ranks has drawn a lot of criticism for the coach as being a charlatan and opportunist. If he is an opportunist, it will be interesting to see if he can make all that he can out of this opportunity.

Saban is on the hot seat. Can he get Bama to the top again? Can Carroll continue to work his magic? Does Weiss have the stamina to survive a trial and a football season?
