The Detroit Tigers (2-0) and Oakland Athletics (0-2) will continue their American League Division Series on Tuesday night at the Oakland-Alameda Coliseum, with the first pitch scheduled for 9:07 ET on TBS

Detroit Tigers vs. Oakland Athletics 

Detroit needs to win just one of three games in Oakland to advance to the American League Championship Series, as it won both games at Comerica Park.  “It’s easier to win one, obviously, then have to go out there and have to win two,” commented Tigers outfielder Don Kelly.  The Tigers will definitely be challenged in the Bay Area, consider they are flying across the country to play an opponent that finished 50-31 inside this ballpark.  Detroit is 0-4 in its last four playoff games as an underdog of +110 to +150, with the OVER cashing in each of those contests.

Tigers starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez (9-13, 3.86 ERA) ended the regular season by leading the team to consecutive victories, including a no-decision effort in a 2-1 road win over the Minnesota Twins.  The right-hander was 4-6 with a 3.29 ERA in 16 road outings, issuing 17 walks and striking out 82 batters in 104 combined innings.  Sanchez was handed a 12-4 home loss in his only career start against the Athletics, allowing six runs (five earned) and six hits over 5.2 frames.

Oakland has just eight players with MLB postseason experience, but don’t count out this clubhouse in potentially turning things around at home..  “These guys don’t really have panic in their vocabulary,” stated Athletics outfielder Jonny Gomes.  “This has been a fun, remarkable season.”  The Athletics have a tall mountain to climb, but their opponent finished the regular season with a losing 38-43 record away from the Motor City.  There’s no doubt the club is focused on snapping its six-game losing streak in playoff action.  Oakland is 39-14 in its last 53 games as a home favorite of -110 to -150.

Athletics starting pitcher Brett Anderson (4-2, 2.57 ERA) was handed back-to-back losses to close out the year, giving up eight runs and 12 hits over nine combined innings on the road to the Tigers and Los Angeles Angels.  The left-hander went 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA in two home starts, issuing just a single walk and striking out 10 batters in 13 frames.  In four career starts versus Tuesday night’s opponent, Anderson has compiled an even 2-2 record and 3.78 ERA.

Sports bettors will likely back the Athletics due to their 4-0 record in Anderson’s last four outings as a favorite, while the Tigers are 0-4 in Sanchez’s last four efforts versus a winning team.
