49ers vs. Cardinals NFL Preview
The San Francisco 49ers are 9-3 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points

San Francisco was handed its first loss of the season last week, dropping a 24-13 decision to the Minnesota Vikings as 6.5-point road favorites, as it lost the statistical battle by a 64-yard margin.  The 49ers turned the ball over three times, and were held to 89 rushing yards.  “We’ve got to get better,” commented 49ers quarterback Alex Smith.  He is now spending time away from home with the team spending the week in Ohio before hitting the Big Apple.  San Francisco is 9-3 ATS as a favorite of 3.5 to 9.5 points, while also covering all six games off an upset loss as a favorite.

The 49ers hold a 9-2 edge in this series, including a 5-1 mark on the road.  Total players will notice that the last three series meetings have gone UNDER the number.  San Francisco has done an incredible job in taking care of the football, committing just four turnovers since Dec. 1, 2011, which ranks second in the NFL in that category.  Offensively, the team will want to get the run game going again, ranking fourth in the league in averaging 141.1 rushing yards per game since October 2011.

New York has alternated wins and losses through the first three weeks, but it suffered a major setback in losing All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis for the rest of the year with a torn left ACL in last week’s 23-20 overtime win as one-point road favorites.  “We’ve got to step it up,” commented Jets head coach Rex Ryan about the situation.  He’s played a major part in holding opposing quarterbacks to a 69.3 passer rating since the 2009 season, which ranks first in the league.

The Jets have allowed 15 touchdowns and recorded 23 interceptions with Revis in the lineup the last two seasons, while surrendering five touchdowns and recording no interceptions without him.  New York quarterback Mark Sanchez threw for 306 yards last week, as he’ll need to continue finding wide receiver Santonio Holmes down field, connecting four times for 89 yards.

Sports bettors will likely back the 49ers due to their 18-6-2 ATS mark following a straight-up loss, while the Jets are 1-5 ATS at home versus a team with a winning record.
