Just two weeks ago, Mississippi St was 6-3 in the SEC and ranked in top 20 nationally. Since then the Bulldogs have gone on a 4 game losing streak that has dropped them to seventh place in the SEC including 73-64 at home against #1 Kentucky Tuesday night. The 19-9 Bulldogs try to right the ship as they take on the 18-9 Alabama Crimson Tide who are 7-6 in the SEC. Alabama has won 2 games in a row including 79-68 at Arkansas Thursday. The Crimson Tide lead the series 114-73 overall against Mississippi St including 72-16 in Tuscaloosa. Mississippi St won earlier this season in Starkville 56-52. The Bulldogs haven’t won in Tuscaloosa since 2007.
Mississippi St is coached by Rick Stansbury. The Bulldogs have wins over Texas A&M, Arizona, West Virginia, Utah St, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, LSU, Auburn, and Ole Miss. MSU has losses to Akron, Baylor, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Auburn.

Trevor Releford averages 12.3 points, 3.2 rebounds, 2.9 assists to lead the team, and 2.3 steals a game to also lead the team. Levi Randolph, Andrew Steele, Trevor Lacey, Nick Jacobs, and Rodney Cooper also get significant minutes in the rotation. Lacey is doubtful with an ankle injury. Center Moussa Gueye is out for the season with a knee injury.

Mississippi St has struggled on the road this season, and historically hasn’t done well in Tuscaloosa. It will be interesting to see how Alabama plays with Green returning after the suspension. If he feels pressure to score, he might force shots and affect the team chemistry. Still I like Alabama to win at home.
