The NFL Personal Conduct Policy is new and designed to make NFL Players shape up or sit out and it’s happening. The NFL Players Association has embraced the policy. Players who get into trouble with the law face various types of disciplinary actions. Tennessee’s Adam “Pacman� Jones has been suspended for the full season after numerous problems with the law. Michael Vick is under investigation for having dog fighting on his property. Tank Johnson of Chicago and Chris Henry of Cincinnati have also been handed suspensions.

The policy is the brainchild of NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who had dedicated himself to cleaning up the NFL’s image. Tank Johnson recently spent two months in the Cook County Jail for violating probation related to a gun charge.

Jones, a cornerback for the Titans, was suspended for conduct detrimental to the NFL. The Bengals’ Henry was suspended for giving minors alcohol in his hotel room and for carrying a concealed weapon. He’s on probation in Kentucky where he was charged with the offenses. So far he’s passed all drug tests, which are a part of his probation. Both Henry and Johnson could be playing football again in 2007 after serving eight game suspensions as long as they stay on the straight and narrow path and stay out of trouble.
