Today marks the start of the 37th annual world series of poker. It is reported that there are over 8000 entrants to pony up the 10K entry fee. Another record breaking year in terms of prize pool and entries. It truly is amazing just how big has become.
They will have 4 starting days, with 2000 players getting to play each day, and play will not stop until they are down to 800 each day. Could be a long day for most. Thanks to the online poker boom it makes it nearly impossible for a big name player to win the Main Event and it looks like the $50,000 HORSE tournament will likely be the way to determine the yearly champion among the pros. Chip Resee took home the title this year and it is likely that this tournament will be the most anticapated tournament from here on out. More updates on World Series Main Event Play to follow.
Day 1A has ended. It is being reported that there are over 8500 entrants to this point and registration will continue until Monday.
Some noticeable names that have already been eliminated, Dutch Boyd, Gus Hansen, Minh Nguyen, Lee Watkinson, Dan Harrington, Amir Vahedi, and Chip Jett.
