The Atlanta Falcons could very well have the best blend of youth and experience in the NFL led by third-year QB Matt Ryan, who regressed a bit in his sophomore season. Ryan still managed to help the Falcons post their first back-to-back winning seasons in franchise history even though they did not get back to the playoffs. This year, anything less than a return to the postseason will be disappointing, especially with future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez playing on borrowed time.

Here’s what this year’s schedule looks like for the Falcons:
Week 1 Sunday, September 12, 2010 @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Analysis: The Falcons get instant respect out of the gates this year as small road favorites at Pittsburgh in the season opener thanks to the absence of Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger.
Week 2 Sunday, September 19, 2010 vs. Arizona Cardinals
Analysis: The Cardinals will be coming off a road opener at St. Louis, likely giving them some false confidence heading into Atlanta.
Week 3 Sunday, September 26, 2010 @ New Orleans Saints
Analysis: If the Falcons can get through their first three games with a winning record including a victory here at New Orleans, they will be in the early driver’s seat in the NFC South.
Week 4 Sunday, October 3, 2010 vs. San Francisco 49ers
Analysis: This will be the third road game in four weeks to start the season for the 49ers before they finish the first half of their schedule with three of four at home.
Week 5 Sunday, October 10, 2010 @ Cleveland Browns
Analysis: Atlanta visits Cleveland before the Browns play consecutive road games at Pittsburgh and New Orleans.
Week 6 Sunday, October 17, 2010 @ Philadelphia Eagles
Analysis: The Eagles host the Falcons in between road games at San Francisco and Tennessee.
Week 7 Sunday, October 24, 2010 vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Analysis: The Bengals will be coming off their bye week and host Miami and Pittsburgh the next two weeks.
Week 8 — BYE WEEK —
Week 9 Sunday, November 7, 2010 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Analysis: The Bucs will be playing their second straight road game after visiting Arizona and dropped both meetings with the Falcons last year by a combined score of 40-27.
Week 10 Thursday, November 11, 2010 vs. Baltimore Ravens
Analysis: Two of the best young QBs in the league square off here as former 2008 first-rounders Ryan and Joe Flacco try to prove which of their teams got the better player.
Week 11 Sunday, November 21, 2010 @ St. Louis Rams
Analysis: The Falcons play four of their next five games on the road, but fortunately the only difficult game over that stretch comes next week at home.
Week 12 Sunday, November 28, 2010 vs. Green Bay Packers
Analysis: Green Bay will be coming off an emotional road game at Minnesota and plays four of five away from home.
Week 13 Sunday, December 5, 2010 @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Analysis: The Bucs are back home after playing two straight road games at San Francisco and Baltimore before visiting Washington the following week.
Week 14 Sunday, December 12, 2010 @ Carolina Panthers
Analysis: Carolina just finished playing three of four games on the road and will host the Falcons and Cardinals before ending the season with two straight away from home.
Week 15 Sunday, December 19, 2010 @ Seattle Seahawks
Analysis: The Seahawks will be coming off a divisional game at San Francisco while the Falcons play their final road game of the season in Seattle.
Week 16 Monday, December 27, 2010 vs. New Orleans Saints
Analysis: This game could potentially have divisional championship implications considering the Saints have a much more difficult schedule as defending Super Bowl champs.
Week 17 Sunday, January 2, 2011 vs. Carolina Panthers
Analysis: The Falcons and Panthers meet for the second time in four weeks, and Carolina has the tough task of playing on the road at Pittsburgh the week before as well.
