Team Needs
Linebacker: Washington released Lavar Arrington, and Warrick Holdman still remains unsigned. Andre Carter was a good pickup via the San Francisco 49ers, but the depth left behind is miniscule.
Cornerback: The Redskins let Walt Harris go and the 49ers picked him up. Shawn Springs is 31 and starting to lose a step. Drafting a corner to challenge for Springs position makes sense.
Summary
Washington won't be able to add as many quality young players via the draft as most teams because they have traded away a ton of draft picks the last couple seasons.
They won't have a first or third round pick in this years draft as they traded those away last year to the Denver Broncos to move up. In the offseason they dealt this years 3rd round pick and next years 4th round selection to San Francisco to get Brandon Lloyd.
Wide receiver was a need for the Redskins but Lloyd although he shows flashes of a number 1 guy at times is very inconsistent. In this cappers opinion a bad move dealing away more draft picks for a shaky oft injured player. Washington also did pick up Antwaan Randle El from the Steelers which now gives them depth at the wide receiver position, and makes the Lloyd trade even more questionable.
The Skins also had some needs at the defensive end position and were able to pickup a some help without trading away more draft picks.
With the one second round pick look for it to either be a cornerback or linebacker. This team is pretty old and rebuilding via the draft is how good teams stay on top. Tough to rebuild with youth when you only have a few picks each of for the next 2 drafts.
