Team Needs

Safety: The Vikings let starting safety Corey Chavous go in the spring. They did find some help by signing Tank Williams from Tennessee, but at the very least depth is needed if not improvement via the draft.

Offensive Guard: Minnesota picked up Steve Hutchinson from Seattle but another spot needs to be filled. Anthony Herrera could possibly develop but better safe than sorry drafting some o-line help now.

Linebacker: Lost Sam Cowart to Houston and both outside and inside positions were not strong to begin with. Signing Ben Leber helps but more is needed.

Summary

Minnesota had some off season shakeups during the summer months. First they were able to solve their running back quandary by picking up Chester Taylor from the Baltimore Ravens.

Minnesota let go of Michael Bennett. Moe Williams was coming off of season ending surgery, M. Moore could never stay on the field and Onterrio Smith was always getting suspended. Signing Taylor now solidifies the Vikings running back situation and fixes the running back committee that just wasn't working.

The Vikings also dealt Dante Culpepper to the Miami Dolphins. Culpepper was surrounded with the boat scandal and was a disgruntled player on and off the field. The biggest issue for Minnesota will be filling small holes. They could use a linebacker, safety, and offensive line help.
