Team Needs
Wide Receiver: The Dolphins have a pretty solid number 1 receiver in Chris Chambers and Marty Booker isn't a bad number 2 but with all the off season moves Miami made there really isn't that many holes. A number 3 receiver and star that could contend to be a future starter looks like a good idea in the 2006 draft.
Offensive Guard: Miami did a good job in resigning Seth Mckinney to a 2 year deal. McKinney did miss the last 3 games of the 2005 season with a leg injury and Wade Smith who missed all of 2005 with an arm injury also returns but some depth at this position would be nice.
Linebacker: The Dolphins cut 12 time pro bowler Junior Seau in the offseason. Although Seau is still a very capable player, the games missed over the last 2 seasons due to his getting up there in age (37) and large salary where the right decision for Miami. They did sign Sedrick Hodge from New Orleans but a first or second round pick should be used on the linebacker position With Saban putting a premium on the linebacker position in his 3-4 scheme preferably an outside linebacker would be helpful to the fish.
Summary
Miami did the best job in free agency out of all the NFL teams. They were able to pick up a slew of players and fill almost every hole on the field.
There is no need for the Dolphins to look for a quarterback as they stuck a deal with the Minnesota Vikings to get Dante Culpepper. The Dolphins also picked up Will Allen from the Giants to replace the poor tackling cornerback Sam Madison.
This years draft should be wide open for the fish and we expect them to either take a linebacker or wide receiver with their first 2 picks.
There have been talks about a trade with the Lions for Joey Harrington, but the Lions want a six round pick, something Miami cannot offer since they traded it away. If a deal for Harrington doesn't get done before the draft look for the Dolphins to draft a work in progress quarterback in the last round on day 3.
