Team Needs

Linebacker: Wali Rainer has not resigned and probably wont. Earl Homes is coming off of season ending knee surgery. Both players don't fit the new mold head coach Rod Marinelli is looking to run so look for Detroit to make a move in the draft.

Offensive Tackle: Jeff Backus is still not signed and at the time of publish that is looking doubtful that they will come to terms on a deal to keep the solid offensive tackle. Victor Rogers is the backup who would replace Backus, but Rogers is very inexperienced and not the long term answer for the Lions tackle position.

Cornerback: The Lions could use some help in the secondary as Fernando Bryant is coming off of season ending surgery. Bryant is not a future starter in the NFL and Detroit could use someone opposite Dre Bly.

Summary

Detroit has made a ton of off season moves adding Idrees Bashir,
Corey Bradford, Dan Campbell, Jon Kitna, Paris Lenon, Barry Stokes, Rex Tucker, and Courtney Van Buren. In addition the Lions resigned 5 of their own unrestricted free agents.

Detroit will be looking for a defensive stud with the first pick unless somehow Matt Leinart or Vince Young fall into their lap. Both of these guys being here is doubtful so players like Linebacker AJ Hawk, Safety Michael Huff, and Iowa Linebacker Chad Greenway are all probable Lion draft day picks.
