Team Needs
Safety: Keith Davis is a decent player but lacks speed and is often caught out of position. Dallas needs to draft a safety with more speed and a better guy to cover the elite wide outs in the NFL.
Quarterback: The Cowboys starting quarter back Drew Bledsoe struggled last season and at times showed his 34 year old age. Tony Romo is not the err apparent and Dallas must start preparing for the future.
Wide Receiver: Dallas released starting wide out Keyshawn Johnson and also signed Terrell Owens in the offseason. With Terry Glenn getting up there in age, and Owens causing problems with every team he has played for, drafting a young stud wide out for the future is in Dallas' best interest.
Summary
Dallas has done a good job reworking their offensive line in the off season. Larry Allen was one of the all time best linemen but has been on the decline for the last couple years. The Cowboys released Allen and he signed with the 49ers.
Dallas was able to snag ex New York Jet Jason Fabini the same day they signed Owens. They also resigned Andre Gurode, and added Kyle Kosier from Detroit. They could use a little more depth and they could come via the draft in the latter rounds.
With the 18th pick look for the Cowboys to take a good look at Florida State's Pat Watkins to fill the safety void. Other options would be a stand out wide receiver or a stretch would be taking Vandy QB Jay Cutler. More than likely we expect Dallas to go after a qb in the later rounds maybe Bowling Green's Omar Jacobs in the 2nd.
