Overall this is rebuilding and refining year for Washington St. The Cougar offense is good, but there is no depth at running back and the offensive line is a little shaky. The Cougars are changing to a new less complicated offense which should help the unproven offensive line. There are a few defensive questions especially in the secondary, which in the PAC 10 is the worst spot to be problematic. If Washington St. expects a bowl birth they must stay injury at running back as well as at the linebacker position, which are both very thin. The Cougars possibly could start the season out 5-0 due to an easy non conference schedule, but will still need another win in the last 6 games to become bowl eligible. The soft non conference schedule should give them confidence when they open up Pac 10 play as well as give themselves optimism to make it to the post season.
